On Day 1, we started with a Welcome Event at the Solidarity Mural, featuring a beautiful portrait of Frederick Douglass with other international leaders, in Belfast. We then went on a walking tour throughout Belfast City Centre with our friends and partners from Anti-Slavery Tours Belfast. The late afternoon and evening was spent at Ulster Museum, where we held our annual #DW signature “Curating Activism” panel discussion of artists and creatives who engaged in a fascinating discussion about how art can inform and encourage social change.

We were also honored to open a new exhibition at Ulster University, also titled “Curating Activism,” on view free to the public for the duration of #DouglassWeek.
