DW23 - Photos Day 2

Day 2 of #DouglassWeek 2023 offered a thoughtful mix of video releases and in-person events focused on education, legacy and community connection. The day featured new video content including Frederick Douglass’ Childhood Philosophy, a Fulbright alumni discussion on human rights and social activism, and Rochesterians and Cedar Hill, which highlighted the work of educators, journalists and activists engaging with Douglass’s legacy in Washington, DC. In Rochester, NY, attendees participated in a full slate of in-person programming, including a conversation on teaching the Underground Railroad, a family-friendly story hour at the Rochester Museum & Science Center and a guided tour of the Flight to Freedom exhibit. The day concluded with The Next Generation, a video conversation with younger descendants of the Douglass family reflecting on heritage, memory and the continuing relevance of Douglass’s life and values.
