DW23 - Photos Day 3
Day 3 of #DouglassWeek 2023 featured a dynamic mix of in-person, virtual and video-released programming spanning two continents. In Cork, Ireland, attendees joined a sold-out Abolitionist Trail Tour, retracing the footsteps of Frederick Douglass and learning about the city’s rich history of activism and solidarity. Meanwhile in Rochester, NY, the day began with a public press conference marking the halfway point of the week’s activities, followed by another Underground Railroad Story Hour and a guided tour of the Flight to Freedom exhibit, offering interactive and immersive learning experiences for visitors of all ages. The afternoon and evening featured a community fun run, walk and food drive, blending activism with public engagement. Virtual audiences tuned in for the live screening of Abraham Lincoln & Frederick Douglass: A Walk to Respect, a dramatic performance and conversation exploring the historic relationship between the two leaders. Additional video releases included The Lost History of Frederick Douglass & the University of Rochester, which uncovered overlooked local connections, and Empowering Education & Inspiring Change, marking the 5th edition of the Frederick Douglass Ireland Curriculum—a key transatlantic educational initiative.
