DW24 - Photos Day 3

On Day 3, we kicked things off with a second walking tour with our friends from Anti-Slavery Tours Belfast. Next, we hosted a “Douglass Dialogues” conversation on “Ink and Insight” at Ulster Museum with changemakers and writers Jan Carson and Nandi Jola. Afterwards we were back at the 2 Royal Avenue space for our annual signature “Decolonizing the Curriculum” panel with local and international participants. In the evening, we were honored to partner with Belfast City Council and the John & Pat Hume Foundation for a very special event with guests and performers from all over the world, including songs from #DW board members Paul Oakley Stovall and Nicole Morris, remakes from Belfast Lord Mayor NAME and US Special Envoy to Northern Ireland for Economic Affairs Joseph P. Kennedy III, and a discussion on the legacies of Frederick Douglass, John Hume, John Lewis and others with

Kenneth B. Morris, Jr., former Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland Mark Durkan, and Lillian Seenoi-Barr from the North West Migrants Forum.

We were especially excited to bring together descendants of three human rights, social reform and social justice leaders at the event: Ken and Nicole Morris (3x great-grandson and 4x great-granddaughter of Frederick Douglass), Joe Kennedy III (grandson of U.S. Attorney General and civil rights champion Robert F. Kennedy), and Sir Maurice O’Connell (direct descendant of Daniel O’Connell).

Video footage from the Day 2 will be available very soon. Once all videos are uploade you can watch them HERE.
