DW23 - Photos Day 4
Day 4 continued the celebration with vibrant programming across Rochester and Cork, along with engaging online sessions. The day kicked off in Rochester with live TV interviews highlighting the spirit of community engagement. In Cork, the second Cork Abolitionist Trail Tour drew enthusiastic crowds, guided by Dr Adrian Mulligan, celebrating Douglass’s 1845 journey through the city.
Online audiences were captivated by Professor Mary Burke of the University of Connecticut, who shared fresh insights into Frederick Douglass and novelist Frank Yerby. Back in Rochester, the popular “Frederick’s Journey” story reading took place again at the Museum & Science Center, followed by a guided tour of the immersive Flight to Freedom exhibit—walking in the footsteps of Douglass and other freedom seekers. The day wrapped up with a powerful panel, “Ink on the Page: Making Our Mark in Predominantly White Spaces”, featuring four PhD students of color exploring their experiences navigating academia, hosted at Frederick Douglass Family Initiatives.
