SOCIAL MEDIA OFFICER
The Globe Lane Initiative (GLI) is the organisational home of the intercultural event series #DouglassWeek. Through the inspiring abolitionist Frederick Douglass, we highlight the importance of remembering slavery, as well as the struggle for liberation that continues in the U.S. and around the world today. Our activities are expanding year by year, and we are currently seeking a Social Media Officer (SMO) to assist with running our Social Media accounts including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. With the help of the SMO, we can continue to develop and grow our online presence, recognition and reach.
We regret that the role is unpaid. The Globe Lane Initiative is a not-for-profit organisation and, at present, none of its board members are remunerated for their efforts. We hope this will change in the near future. Should funding allow, we will offer a small grant to the Social Media Officer in recognition of their work.

Liaise directly with the GLI executive committee

Commitments/Requirements:
Approx. 1-2 hours of work per week
A largely remote role, with the potential to travel to #DW2023 and future events
The initial term for the role is 6 months
The post will be subject to review, and is potentially renewable
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment with a sense of humour
Benefits:
Free access to all GLI activities and events
Potential funding towards attending #DW 2023 in Rochester
Experience in collaborating with national/ international partners
Developing an event series with a not-for-profit organisation
Enhancing your professional development and networks
Collaborating closely with GLI executive committee and other team members
The Globe Lane Initiative is committed to inclusivity and diversity, and particularly welcomes applications from minority and under-represented groups.
