Changemaker 14: Chadwick Boseman
Today's changemaker is Chadwick Aaron Boseman. Born in 1976 in Anderson, South Carolina. Boseman was an actor, playwright and activist who promoted the Black Lives Matter movement. He studied directing at Howard University and during his time there attended the Oxford Summer Program of the British American Drama Academy in England.
He significantly impacted Black cinema and culture by writing plays, and directing as well as instructing drama. Boseman played the Black superhero King T’Challa in Blank Panther and starred as other changemakers and Black icons such as Jackie Robinson in 42, James Brown in Get on Up, and Thurgood Marshall in Marshall. In 2018, Boseman returned to Howard University, where he received the honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree. In 2021, Howard University announced that they had renamed the College of Fine Arts after him. Read more about him here.
